- Plaids and stripes
- Shirt with little flowers, pants with big flowers, socks with other flowers - "Look Mama, I'm all flowers - I match!"
- Skirts with pants underneath
Pants with tights underneath

BWAHAHAHA, I'm laughing WITH you, seriously. Driving to meet my husband at a restaurant for dinner last night, halfway there the little one says, laughing her rear end off, "I no have on panties Mommy! I has a BARE BUM!" And more gales of laughter.
This is why I have the Great Big Purse of Everything.
(And never mind how my children are eye-catching cases of Fashion Don't from age 2 on. LOL) (Just not even close to a battle I'm going to fight.) (No matter what I hear/read other mommies say about those poor little mismatched children.)

I have a photo somewhere, which I should really dig up and scan. I'm wearing green pants with big yellow sunflowers, and birkenstock sandals. And I have on socks. One red, and one bright blue. I got to pick out my own outfits. I think I was about 16...no, wait...maybe I was 6. (And it was the '70s.)
Yes, we did the no underpants thing a couple of times. Notably, once on the "get to know your classmates" day last spring. Thankfully, the dress was long that day.
Now we are onto "I am going to do my own hair." Which is fine by me for independence's sake, but is not advisable if strenuous physical activity is in the cards for later on.
Oh underpants are over rated!

I really have to leash in my inner control freak to let my 6-year-old dress herself. Nothing mathces. Purple and burgundy co-mingle.
At least she always wears underwear. ;-)

I have to admit, I myself was a stripey dressing person today, with stripes of some sort on everything I was wearing. But the colors all coordinated (except for the socks, which on me rarely match the rest of my outfit.)
we did that once this week and without all of the cute stripes.
My daughter also struggles with the matchy-matchy. Also, if there is even one drop of moisture on her panties, she will whip them off like they're on fire.

Oh, yeah. I remember to this day the very first time I got to pick out my own outfit and dress myself. Let's just say there was very little of my wardrobe that I WASN'T wearing.
My little girl, as you know, does the same thing!
Similar things happen in my house, when the dad dresses the toddlers. Hehe!!
He he. My 4 y.o. dresses herself in much the same way!
At least she seems to err on the overdressed side. My daughter has a shirt that she insists is a dress and refuses to wear anyhthing with it (except panties). She also likes to wear only panties with imaginary clothes. She's going to be so cold this winter.
Hysterical! Oh well maybe she'll grow into one of those people who go commando all the time, like what's her name, Vieira, whose first name completely escapes me right now...
