Lands' End bought this post!

Okay, not really. But maybe a little bit.

I got an email last week, from a marketing person at Lands' End, inviting me to a product launch. I don't know how they found my blog, but the note showed that the person had taken the time to at least skim through some posts, saying "I know you are currently very busy with your mother (who is in our thoughts), but thought if you wanted to or even had a moment to break away, this might be something nice for you."

So I went.

I'm kind of partial to Lands' End anyway - I remember them selling foul weather gear and duffel bags when I was in high school and I still have a red duffel bag that I used in college that is in surprisingly good shape: it does not look 25 years old. And for awhile they had nice simple maternity clothes but they seem to have discontinued that line - good thing I'm never getting pregnant again!

Anyway, the event was at lunchtime two blocks from my office, so I trotted over to see what was happening. I was going to go two blocks to get lunch anyway. They had sandwiches & cupcakes & wine, and a display of kids clothes for next fall. The clothes were cute, but then they always are. I chatted with a couple of people and left, collecting my goody bag on the way out the door.

The prize? A new lavender backpack for the girlie, who we registered for kindergarten this afternoon.

Thanks, Lands' End. Your timing was impeccable, though unplanned.

And now I need a glass of wine, what with all the kindergarten angst.

I think I'm in the wrong part of the country for them, but I totally heart Land's End.

I've got the tote, the travel bag, and most importantly a bathing suit that actually lifts and supports!

Kindergarten! How can that be?

It sounds like you had a fun lunchtime excursion to divert you. And the backpack sounds like a handy prize.

Blogging *does* have perks. Very nice.

Kindergarten already? Yikes. She'll look stunning with her lavender backpack.

Very cool!
I order a lot of lands end stuff for the kids.

Since Sears took over their stuff has definitely gone more to looks and less to practicality. The last Squall jacket JR got had a narrow zipper that was impossible to fasten. We've all worn Squalls for years, but she ended up with an LLBean coat instead.

The girls do like their backpacks and lunchboxes. They last--SC has had hers for 2 years and it's still going strong. And I used to buy her their jeans, because they actually make real jeans that fit real girls' bodies!

Kindergarten--yes, angst. But I'm dealing with my big girl heading into EIGHTH GRADE!!!

Perfect perk! We have a Land's End outlet ("inlet", whatever they want to call it) here and I like to get stuff for the kids there.

Awesome! And their backpacks are the best! (they last and are just the right size!)

Shit, I wish I was American. I would love some free stuff chucked my way!

So where is the photo of the backpack woman? They might invite you back!

Now I wish I lived somewhere big where goody bags and free lunches take place.

Nice! When my kids stop growing out of stuff every few months I am investing more of our clothing money into Land's End. I love their classic look and the quality of the stuff they sell. I do have their diaper bag and it has held up very well. I hope someone from Land's End is reading this because I would love some free stuff too! lol!

Amazed, that they knew about and mentioned your Mother. That alone, keeps me as a loyal customer!
I hear you on the kindergarten angst. Glad the backpack was lavender for her.

I love Lands End. I want them to read my blog.

I already had the LL Bean connection. If I had Lands End contact me, my world would be complete.

I was there. How did I miss you?

Nice backpack, right? I liked all the fall foliage. I went home and cuddled up in my warmest Lands' End sweater. Well, I don't own any Lands' End Sweaters but if I did...

How nice! Those sneaky marketing people being all clever and kind...not that I'd know anything about that (*sassy grin*)

Lucky you.

Cupcakes. Cupcakes would make me get past the fact that lands end seems to have really odd colors. Colors that would look great on cupcakes!
