Exhausted, part three

I guess the kid is exhausted too. We got home last night around 6:30. W. and I were in the kitchen making dinner; she was in the other room watching a movie. At about 7:15, before dinner was ready, we found her sound asleep in front of the TV, head and torso on the ottoman, feet on the couch, knees dangling.

Poor chicken. I carried her upstairs and put her to bed. She's still there, at 7:45 this morning. I think I need to go wake her up for breakfast. After all, she had no dinner last night.

(Yes, she dressed herself, competing stripes and all. And no, that's not a real dog. And yes, I hate the Palm Beach chintz, but it was a hand-me-down couch and we have to scrape some more money together before I get it reupholstered.)

Bless her - I love how they can just fall asleep any old how. Rocking those stripes!

That is the most precious thing I've seen in a long time. And I love her ensemble.

She's an individual and secure in her choices! :)

And kids are so cute when they just crash like that. Adults? Not so much...

Those are definitely complementary stripes. Competing would involve the skirt.

I think I can safely say my kids have never done that. They fight the sandman as if he were a super-villain.

I love how when kids need sleep they find it anywhere. sweet girl.

Aw, poor thing. Red slept all night in her bed and was still asleep at 7;45am, too. I woke her (discovered that she'd turned on her bedside light at some point) because she gets very upset if me and Dusty are gone when she wakes up. She doesn't eat much dinner most nights but makes up for it at breakfast. Sleep is often more important than food. I also dig the stripes. I love to see how my kids dress themselves. Recently Red has been choosing non-matching socks.

That is a tired little chicken:)

You may have to do what we did with dinner, which is stick it in a crockpot to cook during the day and eat as soon as you get home.

Or, cook all your meals on the weekend and heat and serve as soon as you walk in the door.

Poor kid, I feel just like her right now.

Priceless photo. And, hey, just get a cover for the couch -- they're cheap, machine-washable, and cover chintz!

So sweet. I remember my son being this exhausted when he started school. It lasts until the end of October, BTW. Then she'll be right as rain.

yeah, the first weeks of school really drain my daughters too (the bad thing is if they wake up at midnight, hungry, and unable to go back to sleep!!! agh!!!).

my youngest (who is 6) likes to dress herself - and i've given up on caring if she even remotely matches, i figure other moms understand and mostly the other kids don't seem to notice. i still cringe sometimes. but your daughter looks totally cute...she had the knack for it, i'd say. :)

I love that picture. What a sweet tired girl.

And I love that you felt compelled to explain about the couch and the stripes. (I routinely feel that way about my stuff.)

Awww. Poor dear.

PS: Reupholstering is crazy expensive! I can't figure out why!

Ohhh, I love when they fall flat on their faces right in the middle of living. It's sad that they're so tired, but it's so unbearably sweet, too.

What a sweetie pie. I want the socks.

I'm glad you explained about the dog because I was curious.

Hope the wakeup this a.m. was not too awful.

Poor Beanie. She looks how I feel.

Aw, poor thing.

Hand me down couches? Oh, I should post a picture of ours. Not. Pretty.

That's so priceless.

Unfortunately, I think my daughter has inherited my inability to fall asleep in anything other a cozy bed...

Oh, who cares about the couch? She's SO adorable. It just makes you want to let her sleep all day, doesn't it. But I guess all night is long enough!

Those are the absolute best times as a kid, just knowing someone's gonna pick you up and put you to bed no matter where you crash!
