The other night at dinner, my child told me that someone in her class was her "frenemy". My child is 7. She is in second grade. Second graders do not have frenemies. Oy.
When pressed, she told me that the boy had made up the word "frenemy". It's friends and enemies put together, mama. No dear, he didn't make that up; Jessica Mitford's sister did.

I hate that word - interesting seeing its provenance, though. Eve has someone sort of like that, except she's under no misconception that the girl is her friend; she just realizes that she (the other girl) acts like one when she feels like it. I'm both glad and sad that she learned that kind of distrust before turning eight.
Oh my. Does seem a bit early for the word, doesn't it?
I so do not get "frenemies." Especially not for 7-year olds. Oy is right.

The other day my dad, who's about 57, asked me if he could mark someone as an enemy of Facebook. I think that's just about as bad as a 7 year old having a frenemy. lol
Kids always think everything was born yesterday. Ain't it great. ;-)
Oh, ouch.
Obviously that kid is committing plagiarism or something. He needs to be shot.
